Disable Blizzard Europe

Snowstorms disrupt thick enough interstate air travel in Europe on Friday, December 17, 2010. Over 800 flights were canceled, and crippled flights in Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.

Germany virtually receive the most severe impact. Over 600 flights were canceled. Some schools had closed. Various roads also cut off by the blockage of a very thick snow.

Loss of access road just does not even trigger a huge traffic jam, but also traffic accident that killed three people and injuring dozens more.

In the Netherlands, heavy snow caused some 100 canceled flights at Schiphol Airport. "This is confusing travelers rushing ahead of the Christmas holidays," said airport spokesman, Mirjam Snoerwang. Schiphol Airport is the busiest airport in Europe paralyzed about 4.5 hours.


The number of flight cancellations it's really miserable passengers. They can only let go seeing ground transportation is also messed up by snow. Snow also forced the cancellation of about 100 flights from the airport in Geneva, Switzerland. On Friday morning until noon, the airport was forced to close. Congestion on the highway even reaching over 100 kilometers.

A wave of snow and cold weather also caused travel problems across the UK. Train trip is canceled, schools closed and access roads clogged with snow. "It's really terrible, the road becomes a layer of ice," said one rider in Scotland, Kirsty McCullogh.(from vivanews)
