Fantasy owners, however, should not be so hasty. Moss will have to go through the waiver process, and it is unclear if he will be claimed. Common sense points to him going to a team that is contending for the playoffs, and we expect him to be avoided by teams running the West Coast offense given his lack of overall familiarity.
Expect to see a lot of Adrian Peterson, who will now face more stacked fronts with Moss out of the picture. Tight end Visanthe Shiancoe may now see double teams. Sidney Rice (hip) appears at least two weeks away from returning. The Vikes’ passing game struggled mightily before Moss was acquired, and unless Rice returns to his 2009 form, we see little reason to believe improvement is on the horizon. Quarterback Brett Favre (chin, ankle, heel, elbow) will have to get on the same page with wide receivers Bernard Berrian, Greg
Camarillo, Greg Lewis and Hank Baskett in order to have any chance of turning around his already dismal fantasy season. He ’s the only one that should be acquired at this juncture but only in deep leagues.
